This is a series of conversations with a few old friends and colleagues in the treaty sector to raise awareness of the kinds of issues, challenges and opportunities faced in that world. And really just to shine some light (wētahi mārama) on what goes on “on the inside” of the process – whether Waitangi Tribunal or treaty settlement negotiations.
I first met Andrew at a Waitangi Tribunal judicial conference, at Waitangi, in 2008. Andrew is a barrister sole. His main areas of practice are Treaty of Waitangi claims and issues, Māori land law, Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act issues and public law.
