treaty stories #3 – Jane Fletcher

This is the third in a series of conversations with colleagues and friends from the treaty sector in which we discuss treaty settlements and their significance.

This time I speak with Jane Fletcher, a former Deputy-Director at the Office of Treaty Settlements (now part of Te Arawhiti: The Office for Māori Crown Relations), and a founding official in the Post-Settlement Commitments Unit (also now part of Te Arawhiti). Jane also serves on the board of the Waitangi National Trust representing the descendants of Henry Williams. She has a fascinating story or two about this whakapapa connection as well.

In the next conversation I speak with Dame Claudia Orange and, following that, with a lawyer who works with many hapū/iwi groups, Renika Siciliano. These will be posted in the next week or so.
